European Work in Progress (EWIP) celebrates its 9th edition in Hamburg.
Thanks to the continuing cooperation with FILMFEST HAMBURG INDUSTRY and MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, EWIP Hamburg will take place from 28 September to 30 September 2026, continuing to spotlight outstanding European projects and connect them with key industry players.
Supported by Creative Europe MEDIA, EWIP Hamburg will present up to 25 European feature-length projects—fiction, documentary, and animation—currently in production or post-production. Projects are selected for exclusive presentations to international sales agents, distributors, festival curators, and other film professionals.
Projects presented at EWIP have gone on to premiere at Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Sundance, San Sebastián, Rotterdam, Toronto, and more—often securing key international sales and distribution deals.
We are also excited to annouce that once again, subsequent to EWIP, the 5th International Film Distribution Summit (IFDS) will take place from 29 September to 1 October in cooperation with FILMFEST HAMBURG INDUSTRY and MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein as well as support from Creative Europe MEDIA.
Who can apply to EWIP?
Producers of European productions or co-productions with:
- At least one European country involved;
- A project in late production or post-production;
- Footage (or excerpts) available to be presented at the event.
Each selected project gets a 15-minute slot, including a pitch, film excerpts, and short Q&A.
In addition to the structured pitching sessions, the event offers ample opportunities for informal networking, one-on-one meetings, panel discussions, workshops, and evening gatherings, ensuring that participants gain maximum value and make meaningful connections.
The Call for Projects will open late May and will accept submissions until mid August.
